Glossy eyes peer at the crouched figure, not bothered by the contact with his hair, haunted distress still clear upon his face though a wavering voice will attempt to combat it with his question.

     ”You haven’t asked about my choice in starter yet. It’s usually the first question out of everyone’s. The change is - nice.”

     _{Glancing over his shoulder after rising, he pauses.  “…I don’t have the right to ask about them."  He never had a starter; all of them…he had stolen.  Broken bonds and shattered love, and then…enough.  He started a family, guiding people through this forest: his…atonement.
     Maneuvering through the kitchen, begins the makings of another round of hot chocolate.  While the stove heats, he removes the pudding from the over with a warning to the eager trio that hover around him.  Cutting the small dish into seven equal slices [and that is by no means an easy task], he asks for plates to be brought.  They are mismatched; he has only four that came in a set; the others are different. Two matching ones [the prettiest, with scrolling vines painted around the edge] are set aside for his guests, while other pieces are set on a placemat on the floor, and one set in the cabinet to cool.  Krayken would have his share tomorrow, after the sunrise.
     Balancing three plates in his hands, he returns to the main area and places them on the table.  Walking back over to the crouched figure, he extends a hand down, intending to help the younger up.  ”…Can you stand?“}
